This charming sampler was originally stitched on a heavy muslin in March of 1872. Henriette Andriessen was a member of the prominent Dutch colonialist family in Paramaribo, Suriname. This Redwork pattern hints at Frisian handiwork and though simple, the final product is an impressive one.
