This item is a recurring or deferred purchase. By continuing, I agree to the cancellation policy and authorize you to charge my payment method at the prices, frequency and dates listed on this page until my order is fulfilled or I cancel, if permitted.

This unassuming 18th century marking sampler was originally stitched with cotton thread on cotton or linen. Lucy was 10 years old when she made this sampler, only a few short years before the 'shot heard around the world' was taken at the North Bridge at the Battle of Concord. Hailing from Acton, Massachusetts, Lucy's father David Forbush was a Sargent in Captain Issac Davis' brigade of Massachusetts Minute Men.

    • 8 bands with one alphabet and identification of maker and date
    • Easy pattern - great for beginners who want to try their hand with counted cross stitch or experts who just want a meditative and relatively simple project.
    • Stitches in the pattern are cross stitch.
    • 124 x 312 stitches

    Included with the kit is:

    • a printed copy of the pattern,
    • a brief explanation about sampler making in America, Lucy Forbush, her life, and her family's role in the Revolutionary War
    • instructions on how to get started with the project,
    • DMC Cotton Thread or Treenways Silk Thread depending on which kit you purchase,
    • 16 Count Aida Cloth with Cotton Kit or 32 Count Belfast Linen with Silk Kit,
    • 24 size needle.

Please note, we do not include a hoop as what folks stitch on (a hoop, frame or by hand) is such a personal decision. If you need advice on what to use to get started, please send me an email and I can share with you some of my favorite options.
