This unassuming 18th century marking sampler was originally stitched with cotton thread on cotton or linen. Lucy Forbush was 10 years old when she made this sampler in Acton, Massachusetts where her father David Forbush Jr. was one of the Minutemen. Her father was shoulder to shoulder with Captain Issac Davis' brigade at the North Bridge at the Battle of Concord when the 'shot heard around the world' launching the Revolutionary War took place.
