Secret Langauge Samplers
17th Century Antique Needlework Band Sampler Hard Copy Pattern
Pickup currently unavailable
This intriguing 17th century band sampler was originally worked over 300 years ago with vibrant silk threads in hues of greens, blues and yellow on a linen ground, and was intended to be rolled up and kept for future reference. It was stitched in a reversible stitch, so the back is identical to the front (but not required with our pattern). The pieces is indicative of an interesting time in the relationship between the Colonies and England in that the designs are similar to pieces found in both England and the Colonies in the second half of the 17th century.
